13/ 100% raw materials used for production of the ceramic body has a low transport environmental impact
14/ Attention to the choice of suppliers related to environmental issues and the trade ethics
1/ 100% raw waste is recycled.
The gres porcelain stoneware tiles which do not conform to our quality standards and that have not yet undergone firing are ground and transformed into a new raw material to be reintroduced into the production process. This reduces the need to use new raw materials.
2/ 100% fired waste is recycled.
Fired waste, which cannot be reintroduced into the production process, is also recycled outside the ceramic industry and used to make roads sub-beds or to fill in mined out quarries. Moreover, unlike other finishing materials with a high environmental impact that must be disposed of in landfills or by ways of refuse-to-energy incinerators, the removed ceramic waste is inert and does not represent an environmental hazard.
3/ Recycling of 99% of waste produced
For many years Novoceram has embarked on a path oriented to the containment of waste of all resources, in particular the reduction of the amounts generated, where the recovery rate is approaching 100%. Since 2009 the collection of differentiated waste has seen a drop of general industrial waste.
4/ 100% recycling of industrial water
Closed cycle industrial waste water unit: thanks to the investments carried out on the production units, Novoceram purifies and recycles all water used during the production process, thus reducing the consumption and waste of this precious natural resource.
5/ Filtering of emissions into the atmosphere using the most advanced technologies
Emissions into the atmosphere are reduced to minimum levels. The investments carried out by Novoceram into the most avant-garde dust emission and polluting gas disposal plants reduce the environmental impact of the production process, preserving the environment.
6/ Energy consumption optimization
Novoceram has implemented a policy of energy management in compliance with NF EN ISO 50001 regulations. Various projects have been approved, such as the recovery of the heat from the kilns to feed the atomizers to save on gas consumption, the replacement of all light fixtures to best manage the illumination of the factory and outdoor areas, and the implementation of a real-time monitoring program that means being able to optimize all significant energy consumption.
7/ 0% lead, cadmium, heavy metals and other CMR substances (Carcinogens, Mutagens and Reprotoxic)
All carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic substances (such as lead, cadmium and other heavy metals) usually associated with ceramic production have been removed from the production process and from all Novoceram products. The decision to take such a drastic step reduces the possibility that such substances can be released into the atmosphere and reduces the chance of coming into contact with them while handling the products and eliminates the possibility to harming the environment, the health of staff working in the producing department and those who live in the environments where the products are installed.
8/ 100% of packaging materials are recyclable
The materials used for the packaging of our products are totally recyclable as they are made of paper, cardboard, wood and plastic.
9/ 100% of the packaging cardboard is made with recycled material
100% of the materials used in the cardboard packaging of Novoceram products come from the recycling supply chain.
10/ Internal air filtration system of the factory using the most advanced technologies
For many years now Novoceram has been committed to improve the working conditions of its employees, in particular to the constant improvement of the microclimate inside the factory thanks to daily cleaning and to investments in vacuum systems and other dust collecting apparatus.
11/ Optimization of the lighting system
Novoceram has undertaken the constant replacement of the light fixtures with energy saving equipment, both outside and inside the factory, office building and showroom. In the new logistic center and in the new production lines introduced since 2015, Novoceram uses an intelligent LED lighting system that saves 82% of electric energy on an annual basis.
12/ No raw materials come from Natura 2000 protected areas
No raw material used by Novoceram comes from « Natura 2000 » areas: that is to say a European network of land and marine areas that European Union member states recognize are in need of protection and conservation in order to preserve the natural habitat of indigenous plant and animal species.
13/ 100% raw materials used for production of the ceramic body has a low transport environmental impact
The choice of raw materials by Novoceram is made in a responsible way. 70% of raw materials of the ceramic mix come from France, the remaining 30% is transported by sea and river, thus significantly reducing the CO2 footprint for the transport of these raw materials.
14/ Attention to the choice of suppliers related to environmental issues and the trade ethics
Novoceram also makes its commitment to the environment sustainable over time thanks to the criteria it sets itself in the selection of its suppliers and other business partners, criteria that takes into account eco-sustainability and social responsibility.
