After Ecolabel certification, Novoceram has recently obtained ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certification.
ISO 9001:2000 defines a series of standards for quality system management conceived for use in all types of organisation, irrespective of the size, type or sector. The idea is to define the requisites an organisation must respect to manage company processes in order to make them more effective and improve the efficiency of the organisation. The objective is to satisfy customers by providing products and services which meet their needs.
The requisites include a set of procedures for performing key processes, monitoring of company process efficiency, an adequate recording and tracing system, constant control of output for defects and review and constant improvement of procedures.
Complementary to the 9001 standard, ISO 14001:2004 contains a number of requisites formulated specifically to support the conception and implementation of an environmental management system representing a genuine environmental management tool, enabling the company to identify and control the environmental impact of its activities, products and services, constantly improve company performance and implement a systematic approach to defining and achieving the environmental objectives (as well as the possibility of demonstrating that they have actually been achieved).
Awarding of this certification following inspection by the certification body DNV, Det Norske Veritas, last July guarantees that Novoceram’s management has full control of company processes and activities with an impact on the environment, ensuring its employees, customers, local communities and control bodies compliance with both current legislation and the environmental standards established by the ISO.
Certification is not awarded once and for ever. The audit is renewed each year and verifies that Novoceram is continuing with its commitments and achieving the improvement objectives established year after year.
